Biography
Dominic Elias Walker has been singing classically since sophomore year of high school, when he competed in his first Solo and Ensemble contest. A voice professor at his local community college watched him perform and offered free voice lessons because she recognized his effort and passion for the art. Continuing from there, he performed in school musicals (Seussical, Tuck Everlasting) and also served as Vice President for the drama club. Mr. Walker’s skills and eagerness for performing arts truly blossomed at his undergraduate institution, Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma (PLU). In his first year he was placed in the premiere choral ensemble, the Choir of the West, participating for all four years, touring the U.S. and performing solos, such as in Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem. He made his operatic debut at PLU in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto with the role of Curio.
Since then, Mr. Walker has taken advantage of every stage opportunity that has come his way, marking his exceptional artistry, foreign language diction, and ability to quickly learn and memorize the music of varied eras and styles. He achieved this through work in roles that followed such as Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Captain Corcoran in Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore, Don Giovanni in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and even a musical theatre revue The Great American Songbook. Mr. Walker’s private voice teacher at PLU noticed his aptitude for learning high volumes of challenging music and pushed him further in his private studies and culminating junior and senior recitals. He has performed full song cycles from memory including R. Schumann’s Liederkreis Op. 39, Poulenc’s Banalités, Finzi’s Let Us Garlands Bring, Debussy’s Chansons de Bilitis, and Copland's Old American Songs. His private voice teacher also connected him with the local Vashon Opera, where he supported the choruses of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette and Verdi’s Otello. In his senior year, he placed third in PLU's Angela Meade Vocal Competition and won the student soloist contest, performing Ravel's Don Quichotte à Dulcinée song cycle, accompanied by the University Symphony Orchestra. Apart from performance experience, Mr. Walker also served as the Music Director and Arranger for PLU’s Gold Rush A Cappella ensemble.
After earning his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, he hit the ground running in his Master of Music studies at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music & Dance (BCM&D). He covered the role of Commander in the collegiate premiere of Poul Ruders’ The Handmaid’s Tale, performed Barber’s Dover Beach with string quartet in a chamber music recital, was a finalist in both BCM&D’s annual student soloist and album recording competitions, and was cast for the principal role of Blansac in Rossini’s La scala di seta. The faculty recognized his determination and achievement by awarding him the Ann Robinson Opera Scholarship, as well as providing opportunities for him to perform in a number of community outreach events. Most recently, he performed the roles of Il Maestro di casa and Dumas in OperaDelaware’s production of Giordano’s Andrea Chénier, coinciding with the 2026 Opera America conference. Mr. Walker is now preparing the role of Tolomeo in his return to Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto with Temple Opera Theater this fall alongside a unique program of song repertoire which he will present in his BCM&D master's degree recital in spring 2027.
